In this video, I’m discussing the relationship between hormones and joint pain. Often, women that notice they have symptoms in the back half of their cycle often have high estrogen levels relative to the amount of progesterone in the body. Since the progesterone level can be too low in the week or two leading up to the cycle joint aches and pains can occur.
Some patients notice pain not only in their joints, but their pelvis, or maybe even in knees and shoulders. I’ve even had patients tell me that they are unable to do their daily activities due to their discomfort. Furthermore, having an imbalance in your hormones can put you at a greater risk for bone density issues, autoimmune conditions, or even estrogen-related female cancers.
The good news is there are ways to treat this. An experienced practitioner can evaluate your current hormone levels and educate you on ways to balance them.
